Spend your summer making a difference, having fun, and being part of something unforgettable. At Camp Horizons, our staff aren’t just employees—they’re role models, mentors, and a huge part of the magic that makes camp special.



General Requirements
- Be at least 18 years old and one year out of high school
- Complete our application and interview process
- Pass background checks
- Attend staff training (early June) Hold any certifications required for your role (lifeguard, CPR/First Aid, riding instruction, etc.—training available for some positions)
Counselor Positions
Most of our team are counselors—living in cabins, teaching activities, and helping campers shine. Counselors lead by example: cheering kids on, keeping them safe, and making sure everyone is eating, sleeping, laughing, and having the time of their lives.
Counselors teach in one of these areas:
- Aquatics - swimming, paddle sports, water games (lifeguard certs required)
- Creative Arts – crafts, photography, stage makeup, clay, painting
- Performing Arts – drama, dance, guitar, movie-making, improv, D&D
- Equestrian – English riding, trail rides, horse care
- Outdoors – ropes course, climbing, biking, camping, archery, boating
- Natural World – farm, garden, nature exploration
- Sports – soccer, basketball, volleyball, pickleball, yoga, and more
Leadership Positions
Looking for the next step? Our leadership team includes Village Coordinators, Activity Leads, and Program coordinators. These roles support counselors, plan big events, and keep camp running smoothly. 21+ with some camp or leadership experience.
Medical Staff
Our Camper Care team keeps camp healthy and safe. We hire RNs, EMTs, and student nurses to manage medications, handle emergencies, and support camper wellbeing all summer long.
Dates & Pay
- Counselors & General Staff:June 3 – August 10, 2025 (with possible extension to August 16)
- Leadership & Medical Staff:Start a little earlier (June 1)
- Pay:Summer contract rates vary by role and experience, starting around $2,600 for first-year counselors, with higher rates for equestrian, leadership, and medical staff. Certifications can earn you bonus pay.
Staff Life
- Training: One week of orientation and team bonding before campers arrive
- Time Off: 24 hours off each week, plus daily breaks
- Meals: Three meals a day plus snacks—vegetarian options available
- Living: Cabins with electricity, climate control, and bathrooms
International Staff
We love our international team! Each summer, staff from around the world join us through trusted agencies like Camp America, CIEE, and Camp Leaders. Together, they make Horizons a truly global community.
