CHoose your own summer adventure
Explore Everything Camp has to Offer
At Camp Horizons, adventure comes in every shape and size! Each day offers variety, choice, and the freedom to explore—from kayaking and horseback riding to arts & crafts and campfire evenings.
Base Camp offers a classic overnight camp experience where children form friendships with those from near and far, spend their days outdoors, and develop independence and confidence under the guidance of caring counselors. Whether climbing the rock wall, exploring the trails, or relaxing by the lake, every moment is a chance to learn, play, and connect.
Two Weeks to Confidence, Connection & Adventure
Week one - discovery & comfort
The first days are full of new sights, sounds, and friendships. Campers explore the grounds, try activities, and settle into the rhythm of camp life. It’s exciting—and a time to get comfortable.
Week two - connection & adventure
By the second week, campers feel at home. Friendships deepen, confidence grows, and they dive into bigger adventures and special traditions that create memories for years to come.
the best of Both Worlds
Parents tell us their children often finish a single week wishing for more. A two-week stay lets campers explore, connect, and truly belong—without feeling rushed.

Big adventures for our youngest campers
Our youngest adventurers, ages 6-8, taking their very first leap into overnight camp life. With counselors by their side, campers move together as a group, trying out a little bit of everything – swimming, arts & crafts, farm & garden, sports, and outdoor fun.
The focus is on building confidence, making friends, and learning camp traditions in a safe, supportive environment. Days are filled with new activities, evenings with campfires and games, and nights with cozy cabin time.
Perfect for:
- First-time campers who want to try it all
- Kids who thrive with extra structure and group support

Their adventure, their way
This is where camp really opens up. Campers choose their own path through mornings filled with sports, arts, outdoor adventures, and more. Afternoons are for cabin time, camp games, and the kind of laughter that echoes.
Friendships deepen. Memories stack. By Friday, camp doesn’t feel like a place they visited, it feels like a place they belong

Add on an adventure to remember
Beyond our 300 acres, there’s even more to explore. Campers can sign up for offsite trips that take them out of camp and into the surrounding mountains, rivers, and caves of the Shenandoah Valley. These are all Accompanied with extra fees to the overall camp experience.
Our offsite trips are only available for Explorer Campers. Please check the activity description for age limitations before selecting the option.
Canoeing on the Shenandoah River: A classic afternoon adventure. Campers are shuttled upriver, climb into canoes with their crew, and spend about two hours paddling downstream back toward camp. It’s teamwork, fresh air, and a whole new view of the valley.
Caving Trip: About 45 minutes from camp, we have access to a cave system on a local property vetted by the National Speleological Society. Led by our outdoor staff, campers gear up and head underground to explore passages, spot formations, and experience a world without daylight.
Tubing Trip: Some afternoons call for floating. Campers hop on a tube, hop in the river, and spend a leisurely couple of hours drifting down the Shenandoah River. It’s relaxation with a current—and plenty of good times along the way.
Trail Rides (Onsite): For campers ages 9 and up who want to experience horseback riding. Our afternoon trail rides take campers around camp property through fields, along tree lines, and into the kind of quiet only a horse can take you. All led by our experienced barn staff.
NROCKS Adventures
NROCKS is our sister company, located about 45 minutes from camp over in wild and wonderful West Virginia It’s where campers go to push themselves a little further. Click here to see full website
Canopy Tour: Seven zip lines. Up to 60 feet high. The longest span stretches 680 feet. Campers fly through the trees and take in the North Fork Valley from a perspective most people never see.
Rock Climbing: Maybe they’ve climbed at a gym and are ready for real rock. Maybe they conquered the Via Ferrata and want more. Either way, our Top Rope Climbing program meets them where they are—and takes them higher.
Mile-High Rock Traverse: A mile of fixed-anchor climbing on double-fin rocks. Part via ferrata, part rock climb, entirely unforgettable. Campers clip in, step out, and spend a day moving across rock faces with the valley spread out below
