Equestrian Day camp FAQ
Who is Equestrian Day Camp for?
Equestrian Day Camp is for campers ages 8–16, from beginners to advanced riders. Whether your camper is brand new to horses or already has riding experience, they will be supported at their level and encouraged to grow in confidence throughout the week.
What should my camper bring?
Campers should bring a packed lunch and snacks.
Each day of camp, Campers should wear:
-
Long pants
-
Clothes they can move in and get dirty
-
Weather-appropriate layers (A rain jacket on rainy days, Extra layers for cool mornings)
Campers will be in the barn interacting with animals throughout the day, so practical clothing is best.
-
Do campers need to bring their own helmet or boots?
No gear? No problem. Helmets and boots are provided, but campers are welcome to bring their own if they prefer.
Does my camper need previous riding experience?
Not at all. Equestrian Day Camp is designed for all experience levels, from first-time riders to more experienced campers.
How are horses assigned?
Horses are selected for each camper based on skill level, experience, and what will best support their learning and success during camp.
Will campers ride the same horse every day?
Sometimes, but not always. We do our best to match campers with horses that fit their skill level and help them grow throughout the week. In some cases, a camper may ride the same horse more than once, while in others a different horse may be a better fit for the day’s lesson or activity.
Where do drop-off and pick-up take place?
Drop-off and pick-up both take place at the barn. Families should enter Camp Horizons through the main entrance, and signage will be posted to guide you the rest of the way.
