Whether you are brand new to riding or already feel right at home around horses, Camp Horizons offers a variety of equestrian experiences for different ages and experience levels for adults and kids who reside in the Shenandoah Valley. Our experienced equestrian team works to match each rider with a horse that fits their size and skill level, creating a fun and supportive place to learn, ride, and make memories.

Summer 2026 Day Camp

Spend a week at the barn learning, riding, and building confidence with horses. Designed for ages 8 to 16, this day camp welcomes beginners through advanced riders and gives campers the chance to grow their skills through English riding lessons, stable management, horse care, and grooming. The week ends with a final horse show where family and friends can come cheer them on.

A Place for Beginners and Horse Lovers Alike

One of the best parts of horseback riding at Camp Horizons is that there are ways to get involved at many different stages. Some riders are meeting a horse for the very first time. Others are looking to keep building skills through regular lessons or enjoy time on the trails. The Camp Horizons equestrian camp page already uses this welcoming approach, emphasizing that beginners and advanced riders alike can grow with support from experienced instructors and gentle horses. That same tone fits naturally here for year-round riding opportunities too.

Private & Semi-Private lessons

Personalized instruction that helps riders build confidence, horsemanship, and riding skills in a supportive setting.
  • Ages 5+
  • Year-round weekly lessons
  • Private or shared with a sibling, friend, or family member

Group Lessons

A fun shared riding experience for riders who are ready to keep building skills alongside others.
  • Ages 5+
  • 3–6 riders per group
  • Best for riders ready for a group setting member

 Tiny Tots Lessons

A gentle introduction to horses and riding designed especially for young children.
  • Ages 3–5
  • Includes horse safety and introductions
  • Lead-assisted ring ride member

Trail Rides

A guided riding experience that lets guests enjoy the beauty of Camp Horizons from the saddle.
  • Ages 10+
  • Seasonal: April 1–November 7
  • 2–8 riders
  • Reserve at least 36 hours in advance

Our Pony parties will include activities and fun! We will help plan your day to make in the best party ever!

Birthday Parties and Celebrations

Come celebrate your special day with our hospitable herd and invite your best friends! Our equestrian team specializes in making your special day unique and memorable. The barn also offers picnic tables and a pop-up tent for your family to set up the cake and ice cream or snacks. So, you bring the cake and we’ll bring the fun!!

Pony parties require a minimum 7-day notice ahead of your reservation date.
