At Camp Horizons we offer a huge assortment of diverse activities. To support such a wide range of activities throughout the summer, some activities offered may change every two weeks. Take a look at our 2-9 selection sheet.

Here are brief descriptions of some of Camp Horizons’ unique activities that may need explanation. To see a complete list of our activities offered in a two week session, click on the link above.

Please note: Not all activities are offered every two weeks. A camper's schedule can always be changed with a signed note from a parent to be brought back to camp the next morning.

Sports

ESPN Sports - Participate in a variety of sporting events such as softball distance hitting and basketball free throw accuracy. Try to break sports figures’ records such as Barry Bonds’ H.R. record and Barry Sanders’ rushing record.

Fitness and Running - Start or maintain good physical balance by incorporating running skills and exercise.

Fun Games - Play creative and innovative group games outdoors.

Newcomb - Play a volleyball-style game using throwing and catching skills instead of hitting the ball.

Pilo Polo - Play outside floor hockey-style games using soft, styrofoam sticks and a soft large ball.

Prison Ball - Play a game similar to dodge ball with added action, played with Nerf equipment.

Speedball - Play a combination of soccer and basketball.

Team Handball - Play a combination of soccer, with throwing and catching skills.

Tennis – Play tennis on our 10 outdoor tennis courts.

Track and Field Events - Participate in events such as distance running, sprints, softball throw, and long jump.

Ultimate Frisbee - Learn a combination of frisbee throwing skills with a game much like soccer.

Weight Training - Instruction of skills and techniques using low weights and repetitions.

Animal Drawing - Learn the basics of drawing your favorite animals.

Bandana Boutique – Like to sew? Make halter tops, skirts, bags, headbands and more from bandanas. You’ll learn to sew by hand and then decorate your accessories and garments.

Basketweaving – Weaving baskets with straw reeds on a wooden base.

Beadie Buddies -- Choose fun things to make out of multi-colored pony beads.

Cool Plaster Craft Wrap-ups - Use your imagination with this wrapped plaster-coated gauze to make three-dimensional items
like ice-cream sundaes and yummy watermelon slices.

Cork and Chalkboards – Create and decorate your own bulletin board that’s one half chalkboard and one half corkboard with a decorative frame.

Crazy Balloons - Learn to twist balloons into fun shapes to create creatures and recognizable objects.

Fabulous Fimo Masterpieces - Reproduce your favorite painting or any pretty picture using oven baked clay.

*New - Fleece It - Make Fleece blankets and pillows by tying knots and using embroidery techniques.

Friendship Bracelets -- Learn the methods of knot tying to make these fashionable bracelets.

Fun With Drawing – Learn basic drawing techniques and surprise yourself when you discover your hidden talents.

Fun With Knitting - Learn to cast on stitches and knit your own scarf or belt.

Lotta Terra Cotta - Get creative with clay pots as we make gumball machines, a birdfeeder, shelf sitters, bugs and more.

Marshmallow Clay – Build a miniature town, an Eskimo village, aliens and robots or anything else using self-drying model magic clay.

Mexican Weaving – Using brightly colored yarn, learn to weave around popsicle sticks to create southwestern Indian ceremonial shields.

Mini Mansions - You design your own mansion out of a box. Make and decorate rooms and furniture. Create great front door, lovely windows and paint the outside.

Mosaics – Learn the art of using beautiful mosaic tiles and grout to embellish trays, flower pots, votives and more.

Mummy Making - Make all the things that are part of Egyptian history and artifacts including mummies and hieroglyphics.

Origami  – Japanese paper folding is relaxing, easy and fun! Create animals, small baskets and wallets – and all you need is paper.

Paper Mache' Pinatas – Using newspaper, glue and tissue paper, you will be making a piñata filled with candy. When finished, enjoy breaking it apart to get to the treats inside.

*New - Pastel Art - Learn the art of drawing and blending colors using oil pastels.

Pen People – Create adorable pen dolls by winding embroidery floss around simple ballpoint pens and adorn with accessories.

Photo Albums and Memo Boards – Pad small albums with fabric and creative décor.  Fashionable and popular padded boards will be made using fabric, ribbon and buttons.

Pirates on the Horizon - Lots of fun pirate projects- a treasure chest, telescope, pirate ship, treasure map and more.

Pottery Wheel – Learn to “throw “ pots on the wheel and form them into interesting shapes. All projects will be fired and glazed.

Spy Training Kit - Make all the things you need to be a number one spy - decoders, fingerprint powder, periscopes and disguises.

T-Shirt Design – Designing T-shirts using fun and funky techniques, including hand painting, beading, tie-dying, etc.  Campers must supply their own T-shirts or use the camp T-shirts.

Tape Treasures – Make unbelievably beautiful pictures using only colored masking tape.

3-D Art - Pictures, masks, sculptures, jack-in-the-boxes and mobiles from a variety of materials.

Terra Cotta Cuties - Tiny creatures and scenes made out of tiny pots and paint.

*New - Tie Dying with Sharpies - Learn this great technique using sharpies and alcohol to create dynamite tie-dye projects.

Tiny Totes - Learn to sew your own fashionable tote bag.

*New - Tiny Treasure Boxes - Use the art of quilling – tightly wound strips of paper - to adorn small boxes, which will then be painted to look like precious metal.

*New - 3-D Perspective Drawing - One and two point perspective drawing will give your pictures depth.

Underwater Wonderland - Make all sorts of underwater creatures using a variety of techniques, such as a flowerpot whale, marshmallow clay scene, yarn octopus, etc.

Watercolor Painting - Learn the techniques to create lovely watercolor masterpieces.

Weaving and Lacing - Learn great weaving skills to make string art, lanyards and bracelets.

Yarn Animal Bugs – Make these cute little big-eyed bugs, from yarn, googly eyes and felt.

Acting Games - Learn acting techniques through the use of games, skits, etc.

Beginning Drums - Learn rudiments, sticking, tempo and basic beats.

Camp Chorus - Group singing with various types of songs.

Fun with Public Speaking - Have fun with various types of oral presentations.

Hip-Hop - Learn rhythmic urban style dancing that is popular in music videos.

Line Dancing - Learn various line dances, like YMCA and The Electric Slide.

Modeling and Fashion - Put together a fashion show and then perform it.

Party Dancing - Learn how to do free style dancing to various types of music.

Piano/Keyboarding - Learn or enhance your musical keyboarding skills. Beginner - for those with little or no knowledge of music. Advanced - for those with previous knowledge and skills.

Rock Band - Play guitar, keyboards, drums, bass and sing in a CAMP HORIZONS’ Rock Band. Previous musical experience necessary.

Show - Participate for two periods a day for 4 weeks. Techniques such as acting, dancing and singing are applied. No previous experience in these areas is needed. Everyone who signs up will perform.

Showstoppers - Learn to sing songs from Broadway and Disney shows both popular and unknown. Have the opportunity to perform a solo or with your friends.

Tap Dance All Levels - it is not necessary to buy tap shoes.

Camp Newspaper - Write, design and develop a Camp Newspaper.

First-Aid Training - Learn basic first-aid techniques.

Fun With Cooking - Engage in activities, stories, and simple recipe projects along with learning some basic cooking skills.

Fun With Magic - Our professional camp magician will teach magic tricks that WOW the entire family.

Fun With Math -Test your math and thinking skills with math puzzles, word games, and mysteries.

Fun With Nature - Explore the trails and learn about the birds, plants, and animals around us.

Fun With Science - Experiment hands-on with fellow scientists!!

How To Be a D.J. - Learn all parts of a complete D.J. system and tape D.J./Radio shows.

Lego Design - Create various Lego structures.

9th Grade CIT Training - All 9th graders wishing to work at camp next summer MUST take this activity. Skills and expectations will be discussed and practiced.

Photography - Learn photographic skills on a 35 mm still camera including development of the film.

Digital Photography - Learn parts of a digital camera and digital photography skills.

Plastic Model Making - Select a plastic model and learn the skills of building it from start to finish. Model kits are compliments of Camp Horizons.

Rocketry - Construct model rockets you will launch at our Family Rocket Launch Night. Rockets are compliments of Camp Horizons.

Studio/Video Production - Learn to use profession T.V. studio/editing equipment and work as crew members (director, camera, audio, etc.) to create TV shows.
