Spending the past 16 summers at Brooklake Day Camp and Camp Horizons has been a rewarding life experience. Getting to know all of the campers and their families, working with the wonderful staff, and ensuring that everyone's needs are met, keeps me busy and very happy! Camp is a very special part of my life!
Working at Camp Horizons is so much fun!!! Seeing the campers enjoying themselves and learning new skills is such a rewarding feeling. In addition, working with Neil, Al, Holly, and the entire staff is a most wonderful experience; the closeness and camaraderie make each summer a special one for me.
I have been the office manager at Camp Horizons for 27 years. I keep coming back each summer because I can't imagine my life without this camp experience. I have met so many wonderful people at camp, and over the years we have developed terrific relationships. I love to see a former camper who is now a young adult and part of our staff, and relive old camp memories. Camp Horizons provides a safe, fun, interesting, enriching experience for everyone. From the perspective of a Camp Horizons' counselor, I can sincerely say that this camp's intent is to be welcoming, attentive, and caring. Everyday, counselors and staff are encouraged and supported to do their best and be their best. The campers truly come first at Camp Horizons. There are many campers who are befriended by counselors and fellow campers and whose self-esteem is boosted all summer long. There are opportunities everyday for campers to shine, experiment with new interests and perfect old ones, to play team sports and to learn a new sport. Because kids choose their schedule, they are happy to be here. The counselors who are here lend a real richness and diversity to the camp. The owner and director of the camp have mastered the skill of bringing out the very best of the people who work for them with encouragement and appreciation for their hard work. Their passion for making Camp Horizons the best place for kids is infectious, and all of these aspects benefit the campers who attend Camp Horizons.
There is not a better staff that I would rather do a better job for. The pats on the back and the thank you's that I constantly receive are glorious and appreciated.
Camp would not have been as much fun for me without the sense of humor you provided. I consider myself blessed to have been able to spend the summer with you.
Camp Horizons is a camp where I have made many long-lasting relationships with new friends. Because I was always with campers who liked the same things I liked, the bonds that I made at Camp Horizons have lasted and many of us keep coming back summer after summer. It is hard to find a camp that compares to Camp Horizons.
As a head counselor of Kindergarten boys, I have the opportunity to help them develop their self-confidence and team spirit every summer. They keep me laughing and smiling, as only a group of 5 year old boys can!
Camp Horizons provides a fantastic experience for everyone involved. Campers enjoy a wide range of activities from Pilo Polo to Quiet Games. This fabulous facility allows campers to enjoy a summer filled with top notch, activities. It seems like I've been here forever (18 summers) and have loved every moment!
Fantastic... Caring... that's what Camp Horizons is all about! The Sports Program is really tops. With so many diversified sports offered throughout the day, it gives every camper the opportunity to experience the fun and the diverse skills of each game. The first part of every period is set aside to teach the skills of that sport and to have the campers practice those skills, then they take time to put their skills into action. The campers love learning new sports, and I am impressed with all the campers and how cooperative they are during each sports period.
Golf, Soccer, Touch Football, Pilo Polo, Softball... these are just a few of the terrific sports that are offered at Camp Horizons every year. The enthusiasm of every camper gives me the drive to work so closely with them. I am so impressed with the wide variety of sports that are part of each camper's schedule, and I love teaching each camper the skills of each sport. Our campers are truly the best.
Camp Horizons is the one camp I know that has something for everyone! What a great summer treat for kids to be able to choose what to do each day. They can have fun outdoors at any sport, or be inside (in air-conditioning) enjoying the widest variety of Arts, Drama, Singing, Photography, Rocketry, and much more. Camp Horizons is a super place for kids of all ages and interests.
Camp Horizons is a wonderful place. The campers and staff are so special. I look forward to every summer to be with people who have become family.
As a mother of two boys and a first year staff person, I couldn't be more pleased with Camp Horizons. On a daily basis, I see the staff, from the owner and director to the counselors, treat the children with caring and respect. Children really are the priority here at Camp where a child's individuality is both nurtured and appreciated.
Camp Horizons is the only place to be in the summer! Good friends, great people and a real sense of family. What else could anyone ask for?
There are phenomenal activities to choose from at Camp Horizons - ones that probably wouldn't be offered at a traditional camp, such as Plastic Model Making, Weight Lifting, and Pottery Wheel. I love the fact that the camp teaches children responsibility and fosters their individuality.
Camp is FUN, noisy, active, energetic, friendly, always changing and I can think of no place I'd rather be in July and August!
As a former camp magician, I can say that Camp Horizons is the finest camp on this or any other planet, and I've seen them all! To sum it up, Camp Horizons is magical!
Camp Horizons is the absolute best summer experience a child could have. It's fun, exciting, friendly and challenging... a great place to make new friends.
